Clear All Selections Make sure nothing is selected in your document. |

Check Option Setting Right click on palette border to open pop-up menu. Choose Customize. Make sure the Set Outline option is checked in the Mouse Button 2 section. With this option set, you can set the outline with your right mouse button. |

Set Outline Default Click desired default outline color with right mouse button. The Outline Color dialog box will appear warning you that nothing is selected and the default will be changed. Changing the default means that every time you create a new object, this outline will be applied. Choose which items you would like the new default to affect. Normally, text objects do not have outlines so will not be selected. Graphics is the usual choice for applying a default outline. |

Set Fill Default Click desired fill color with left mouse button. The Uniform Fill dialog box will appear warning you that nothing is selected and the default will be changed. Choose which items you would like the new default to affect. You can choose any or all to have this fill applied. Check Graphics and Artistic Text for this sample. New Graphics and Artistic Type objects will be automatically filled with this color. Paragraph text will maintain the original default. |

Test Defaults Choose Rectangle Tool from the Toolbox. Click and drag on your page to create a rectangle. The outline and fill colors should be the ones you just set as a default. Choose text tool and click on page. Type text sample. This is Artistic Text and should have the same fill as the rectangle. Choose Text Tool and click and drag to define an area on the page. Type sample text into this area. This is Paragraph Text and should have the original default fill. |
