Embedding Movies with Flash, Part II: Basic Properties

Shifting Up or Down

One of the properties is Y POSITION. You may both set and get this property. The Y POSITION property designates the vertical offset of the movie frame with respect to its embedded position on the page.

The Y POSITION property is no. 1, so you get its value by going:

  mySwf.TGetProperty(timeline, 1);

And you set it in a similar way:

  mySwf.TSetProperty(timeline, 1, value);

Play the following movie by clicking the Play link. Get the Y POSITION of the movie by clicking the Get Y link. Move the movie down by 200 pixels by clicking the Set Y link:

Rewind | Play | Get Y | Set Y

Here is the source code:

<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript" SRC="flashcheck2.js">
</SCRIPT>
<A href="javascript://" onclick="javascript:mySwf2.
 Rewind(); return false">Rewind</A> |
<A href="javascript://" onclick="javascript:mySwf2.
 Play(); return false">Play</A> |
<A href="javascript://" onclick="javascript:alert(mySwf2.
 TGetProperty('/', 1)); return false">Get Y</A> |
<A href="javascript://" onclick="javascript:mySwf2.
 TSetProperty('/', 1, 200); return false">Set Y</A>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
