Internet Explorer 5.0: With Style, Finally?
Joy to the world, the angels sing, and so do half the news publications in the world that have anything even remotely close to a computing interest. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 is released, let us all rejoice.
It's easy to get hyped up about a new software release. There's always a lot of stuff to write about. However, it's also easy to get carried away.
First of all, let me point out that this is not a complete review of the software product. This being a developer page dedicated to HTML and CSS, we're going to have a look at the product from the HTML and CSS author's point of view. Which does not mean we're going to ignore the usability aspect completely, but the main focus of this review will be the browser's support of HTML and CSS.
Given that this support is not part of the gigantic hype machine that Microsoft has launched to promote the browser, you might not be surprised by the fact that Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0, release version, is a huge dissapointment for the developer, any developer, anywhere. But let's take things one step at a time.
