Tutorial 22: The Font of Foulness, Part I: Size Matters
Up until now, I've been telling you how to do things when you're designing Web pages. Starting with this tutorial, I'll change my tune slightly and begin warning you about how not to do things. In this crusade against all things Evil we will examine several bad HTML and CSS practices and offer alternatives that let you do the same, or some times even more, while adhering to our philosophy of interoperability. Of course, the battle against Evil involves knowledge of the Black Arts, and all warriors fighting against the Forces of Darkness must be knowledgeable in the ways of the Enemy.
To start off, we will start with that most Evil (pronounced "iiiiiiih-vell", as illustrated in recent spoofs of 60s British espionage flicks) of tools, the FONT of Foulness and its many derivatives. In this tutorial, we will examine the use of FONT to specify font size; in Part II, we will look at its other Evil functions.
