P3/450, Windows 98

My computer at work is an Intel Pentium III, 450MHz. Runs Microsoft Windows 98, First Edition. Has been updated with Microsoft Internet Explorer v5, and a couple of other system updates. The computer is equipped with 128MB RAM. Graphics adapter is a Matrox G200 AGP with 16MB RAM, and the graphic drivers were updated last in mid-August 2000. Monitor resolution is set to 1152x864, 32 bits per pixel.

Browsers installed and used for testing on this machine were:

Mozilla Milestone 10
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 (running in "compatibility mode")
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5

Mac G3 266MHz

My Mac at work (I work at the right place you see :). G3, 266MHz, 128MB RAM. What graphics adapter it has I do not know. Monitor resolution is set to 1024x768. Color-depth is unknown, but it is at least 16 bits per pixel. Operating system is MacOS 8.5.

P3/400, Windows NT

Intel Pentium II, 400MHz. Operating system is Microsoft Windows NT v4.0. It's got 128MB RAM, and a Matrox G200 AGP graphics adapter. The amount of RAM on the graphics adapter is not known, but it is capable of, and set to, a resolution of 1280x1024 at 32 bits per pixel. Details of graphics drivers and various updates to the system are unknown, but it should have NT Service Pack 3 installed, since it runs an AGP graphics adapter.

P3/400, Linux

The Linux system is an Intel Pentium III, 400MHz. Operating system is Linux 2.2.12 with Xfree86 installed. What version of Xfree it runs is unknown, but since it has support for its Matrox G200 AGP adapter it is a recent version. The Matrox graphics adapter runs 1280x1024, with at least 16 bits per pixel. The X server is not the latest update for the Matrox graphics adapter.

P2/350, Windows 98

This is my home computer. It's an Intel Pentium II, 350MHz with 128MB RAM running Windows 98 First Edition. The graphics adapter is Matrox G200 AGP, with the latest drivers available at the time it was tested. Screen resolution was set to 1152x864 at 24 bits per pixel.

The browser installed and used for testing on this computer was:

Pentium 75, Linux

My home server, an old, trustworthy Pentium 75 with 72MB RAM. Operating system is Linux 2.0.38 (an updated RedHat 5.2). It doesn't run an X server, instead my P2/350 does that. The applications therefore run on the P75 with the actual output showing up on my P2/350. Network used for transfer consists of TP-cabling, a 3com hub, a 3com 590 PCI NIC in the P75 and an Intel Pro100+ PCI NIC in the P2/350. The test run on the P75 was the setInterval() speed test, so network traffic was low.

Pentium 133, Windows 95

My girlfriend's home computer. 133MHz Intel Pentium running Windows 95 (4.00.950). Graphics adapter is a StingRay 128/3D set to 1024x768 at 16 bits per pixel. This system also only ran the setInterval() speed test, so graphics settings should have little impact on the result.
