This addendum addresses and fixes a problem with the Hierarchical Menus Version 3 script, when executed in Navigator 4.5. You must be familiar with the script to appreciate the discussion.
Welcome to the third maintenance release of Hierarchical Menus, Version 3. Admittedly, it has been late in arriving, due mostly to personal time constraints. Our apologies.
Thanks to all who sent mail to inform, assist, or badger me regarding the failure of the menu script in Navigator 4.5.
Special thanks to those who sent "fixes." All fix variations work, oddly enough, but we'll incorporate and discuss the simplest, the one that requires the least modification to the code. Which means that very special thanks go to Jeff Sheffield, a webmaster at Tivoli Systems Intranet, who was first on the block with this particular fix.
Therefore version 3.03 involves only the fix for Navigator 4.5. New features and performance improvement have been reserved for version 4, coming soon.
So let's look at why Navigator 4.5 did not like the menu script.
