The style object's position property can have three values: "static", "absolute", and "relative". The "static" value is the default. In the case of relative positioning, the element is positioned according to the normal flow of the page, and then offset by the top and left properties. The element oDiv below is offset by 100 in the horizontal direction. First look at the code:

<STYLE>
.divstatic {position: relative}
</STYLE>
<DIV ID=oDiv CLASS="divstatic">
This is a paragraph of text in a DIV.
</DIV>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!--
oDiv.style.left = 100;
// -->
</SCRIPT>
<P>This is a paragraph of text as well.</P>
And then observe the results:

This is a paragraph of text in a DIV.

This is a paragraph of text as well.

Notice that the oDiv object is at a 100 pixel offset in the x direction.
