Embedding Sound with Flash, Part I: The Basics
A Final Word
In this column we started a new series on how to use JavaScript to embed and control Flash sound bits in Web pages. we introduced you to what is a Flash player, a Flash editor, and a Flash file. We explained the difference between a Flash file and an SWF ("swiff") file, and the structure of an SWF file. We tried to convey the message that controlling a Flash player is like controlling a play head. We gave you a recipe for creating sonified pages, and we demonstrated using this recipe by three Flash tracks.
In this column you have learned:
- How to tell a Flash player from a Flash editor from a Flash file
- How to maneuver an SWF file
- How to sonify links
- How to author sonified pages
We pointed how to download the Flash Player, the FlashSound JavaScript API, and the three SWF examples we used in this column: beamscan, kung fu, and funky music. You could also find all these files in one zipped file.
