A Streaming Media JukeBox - Part II: Netscape: A Final Word
A Streaming Media JukeBox - Part II: Netscape
A Final Word
In this column we extended our coverage of streaming media to the Windows Media Player's Plugin for Netscape Navigator running Windows. We showed you how to embed it in your Web page and how to call it as an external tool. We presented our streaming media jukebox and explained how each button works and how we play the selected file. We focused on controlling the player with JavaScript as well as modifying its attributes with methods. We describe the Plugin's limitation as far as file name assignment is concerned, and worked around it by reloading the page with the new selection as a URL parameter.
In this column you learned:
- How to embed the Windows Media Player's Plugin in your Web page
- How to control the Media Player's Plugin by JavaScript
- How to overcome the Media Player's Plugin's deficiencies
- How to write A Streaming Media JukeBox - Netscape's Version
We also provided the full script and its zipped version.
