DOCJSLIB Version 4.0: Final Thoughts - www.docjavascript.com
A Final Word
In this column we have introduced Version 4.0 of DOCJSLIB. This version enables a much tighter HTML scroller, with much-reduced browser dependency. We have introduced 18 new functions that expect parameters to be passed by reference. We have explained the difference between passing parameters by reference and passing by string. We have moved DOCJSLIB to an external file, and have shown you several applications sharing the same library file.
In this column you have learned:
- How to distinguish between call-by-reference and call-by-string function calls.
- How to get an image's width, height, x, and y coordinates .
- How to get and set a DHTML element's height, width, top, and left coordinates.
- How to create a clipping region and set its visibility.
- How to move a DHTML element and how to redesign the HTML Scroller accordingly.
- How to streamline further the HTML scroller code.
We have shown you the code for the Scroll Box and its control parameters, and the code for the Page Watermarks. We have presented you the code for the Connect-Three board game and instructed you how to play it. Finally, you could view the DOCJSLIB 4.0's code or download a zipped version of all these scripts.
