Adobe Announces Photoshop 5.5

Is it Warnock's bid for World Domination?

For those of you who have been in hibernation or perhaps sweating over deadlines for the past week or so, the big news is that on June 17th Adobe announced Photoshop version 5.5.

At first glance, moving from version 5.2 to 5.5 does not sound like a big deal. Do not be deceived by the first glance though… this move will not only make your life as a designer a lot easier, it will also strengthen Adobe’s grip on the software graphics market. Over time, products like Go Live and InDesign will look more desirable because of the Photoshop 5.5 implementation.

Well, with a big build up like that, I guess I can back down a bit and actually explain what is in the new version. We’ll get to speculate on John Warnock’s plan for world domination later in the article, but first the nuts and bolts behind the announcement.
