WordPress has become one of the most popular blogging tools on the Web, and like all Web applications you need to make sure your WordPress blog is optimized for search engines. With hundreds of blogs and websites appearing on the Internet every day, search engine optimization (SEO) is becoming an increasingly important aspect of marking your presence online. In fact, SEO has become as important a consideration of Web design and development as good design and content.

The All in One SEO Pack plugin is a one-stop shop for many or most of the SEO tweaks you need to make for your WordPress blog. Be it canonical URLs, SEO optimized titles or smart META tag generation, this tool has it all. Let's look at how to install the All in One SEO Pack plugin on WordPress and use it to optimize your WordPress blog.

The All in One SEO Pack comes in two versions, free and Pro. The Pro version offers advanced features but it costs $39. We will look at using the free version of the plugin in this article. At the time of writing, the latest release was version 1.6.12.1, and it supported WordPress 2.8 or higher.

To begin the installation, download the plugin and extract it to the location /wp-content/plugins under your WordPress installation. After you are done with that, activate the plugin from the Plugins section of your WordPress installation admin panel. After you have successfully activated the plugin go to the All in One SEO Pack options section by going to Options -> All in One SEO. This is where all the magic happens. Here you will see a long list of all the SEO tweaking options the plugin provides.

Choosing the Proper All in One SEO Pack Settings

Installing and activating this plugin alone won't have any impact on your blog's SEO. You need to set the values of each of the options that All in One SEO Pack offers. Let's explore the recommended setting for each of these fields. The first option is to enable or disable the plugin. Make sure you set this option to Enabled.
